Feeling the love

Thank you to the lovely Dulwich Divorcee for passing this honour on to me.....it's come at the right time because David has arranged for his "IT guys" to come and install SAGE and some other gizmos onto our home PC and his laptop so he can "work from home more often". He is quite pleased about this. I, on the other hand, remember his rageous rant of last week when the IT guys completely - and here I am repeating his words exactly - "ballsed up the entire office system which ensured that all of our outgoing emails were copied to everyone in our address book and norsed up our internet connection and did something nasty to our firewall". I remember it well. David's cheeky email to me, along the lines of "am feeling fruity today, must be the weather" was catapulted to several people in several companies in the City and beyond - I believe as far as Canada. He only narrowly avoided major disaster (and a written warning) because the Second Big Boss' email to a company specialising in Thai brides (advising he would consider "no-one over 25") was far higher up on the gossip/disciplinary scale. Said Second Big Boss is now looking for a Thai bride during what I believe is called "gardening leave".

Anyway. Where was I? Oh yes! Thank you again Dulwich Divorcee......I shall wear my award with pride and, before the IT guys arrive on Monday "any time between 9am and 6pm", would like to pass this award onto The Dotterel, Elsie Button, Millennium Housewife, Nappy Valley, Working Mum and Potty Diaries.

Oh dear! I imagine some heads rolled with that mix up! Too too funny. Do you think he's off planting himself a young woman and seeing if she'll grow in his garden?

Never mind me - I think I need some chocolate.

Oooh that tops the company email my friend forwarded to her father, with the comment "are these bosses idiots or what?" He replied "yes, clearly" but alas he hit the Reply All button so that all the employees on the original list got a copy.

Of course, there were the two German women who emailed each other complaining about their boyfriends' inadequacies... and the intimate steps they took to try to improve their, um, slackness... and the email alias that inadvertently cc'd the rest of their office workers, who hit the Forward button...

oooo Thank you! I've just got this one from A Confused Take That Fan as well, so I'll add your name.

As Bridget Jones pointed out, it's easy to be sucked into informal medium of e-mail.

Just never, never do it from work!!!

Thankyou NH Mum! Just what I needed, I can tell you!

That is one of the funniest IT stories ever! We once had a security guard sacked at our office for downloading Asian Babes!

I knew a guy who got himself a Thai Bride once, about 5 years ago. Don't know what happened to him. Or her for that matter.

Congratulations on the award.

Serves him right - I mean the guy shopping for a bride. If he's on gardening leave now, perhaps he'll get hooked up with a gnome or something.
And those IT guys....some time between 9am and 6pm???? Are they French??

Thank you so much! I've also got this one from Mom/Mum so will thank you jointly!

Love the email story. Reminds me of the joy of reading that Clare Swires email a few years back.

Hasn't happened to me, thank god, but a friend who works in banking once had the listen to a phone call between myself and her, discussing our love lives, played on the loudspeaker phone to her entire office (as they trawled through the tapes to find some other information!)

You're too kind! Thanks, Nunhead mum (and if you're reading this, the guys from IT have failed to show up!).

Just goes to show how careful you need to be before clicking on 'send'. Congratulations on your award!

Aims, chocolate always good, I've eaten practically my body weight this week. Not good!

Merry.....haha, still laughing!

MH, you can stalk me all you like if you keep saying lovely things like that! Aw, shucks!

WM....David has worked out a code now. But that's a a whole other post!

PM, why, what's happened? have been offline so need to catch up!

Tara.....why do people think they can get away with it? He had a whole list of Favourites that would, as David informs me, curl my hair!

CJ, I just keep thinking of Little Britain!

Mya....no, one was from Basildon and the other from Barnstaple. Stand by for whinging post on the subject. They were about as IT literate as I am!

Valley Girl, how embarrassing. Whoops!

The Dotterel.....they came, they saw, they came back, had another look, phone the SAGE helpline and eventually conquered.

Adventure Mother, you do indeed!
